Meet the Team
Aminah Mehrban – Chair
As a first-generation UK born individual, whose parents moved to the Alum Rock area from Pakistan in their childhood, my parents and grandparents sacrificed and worked very hard in order for me to excel with opportunities and prospects they did not have. I was born in London and moved back to Birmingham in my early years, I branched out of the city for my University education and work, however, I now live locally to the Alum Rock area.
I have attained a corporate background and wide skill set, I wish to support and give back to the community which essentially are my roots and where the heart of my identity lies. Together we have the power to make changes for the better for our community, particularly a Young female with a strong voice.

She was born and grew up in B8 and knows the type of challenges the community faces. She likes to see herself and others get involved to make positive changes together in order that everyone can be an active part of social justice.
Khadija Mehrban
I grew up in Alum Rock and attended the local schools in the area. I still live nearby and have relatives who still live here. I feel that there are many positives about Alum Rock which are overlooked and we need to promote and enhance these positives.
It is important that we take ownership of the areas we live / work in and work in partnership with the local service providers to rectify the issues we may face i.e., cleanliness, parking etc.
I work part-time at the Local Hospital and during my spare time I am proactive in different community projects as a volunteer in order to help in overcoming local challenges and share my experience and knowledge.
Prior to my current clinical role at the hospital, I worked with a number of different organisations within an advisory and management capacity. My hobbies include travelling, reading, gardening and spending time with my family.
Simran Taggar
After successfully completing my Bar Practice Course, I have a passion to get involved with the community and spread my knowledge about the legal system in a way to support women and the wider community. I am eager to channel my energy, skills, and experiences into actively contributing to the development of our shared environment making it a better place to live.
Having completed pro-bono legal work with families and women my commitment to community betterment is deeply rooted in a belief that every individual has the power to make a difference.
